Stick Tattoo is proud to be now offering permanent makeup and microblading, courtesy of the lovely and talented Sydney Martisko. Syd’s skillfull touch with permanent makeup can help you look your best when you wake up every morning, all while saving you time and money.
Permanent makeup is a cosmetic procedure that uses specialized needles to deposit pigment into the epidermis layer of the skin, creating a semi-permanent tattoo that can last for several years. It can help enhance or replace your natural features, such as eyebrows and lipstick.
Microblading is a semi-permanent cosmetic tattooing procedure that uses a blade to create hair-like strokes in the eyebrows. The result is fuller, more defined brows that can last up to 18 months. Microblading is a great option for people who have sparse or uneven eyebrows, or who want to enhance their natural brows.
Microblading is a modern form of permanent makeup. Unlike traditional tattooing, the artist uses a hand held tool to manually create realistic hair-like strokes and deposit pigment into the epidermis layers of the skin. This is a two step process with one initial appointment and one touch up 6-8 weeks after the first appointment.
Microblading is considered to be semi-permanent based on two major factors: One, the pigment used is almost entirely organic, containing very few metals, unlike traditional tattoo pigment, so your body will eventually metabolize the pigment until there is next to nothing left, and Two, while traditional tattoos are placed deep into the dermis layers of the skin, microblading is only placed into the upper epidermis layers of the skin.
Preparing for your appointment is extremely important and plays a huge role in how your brows heal. Before your appointment be sure to advise your artist of any medical conditions or medications you are taking. Make sure to stop any product containing harsh retinoids, and stop taking fish oil twelve days prior. Avoid blood thinners, alcohol, and ibuprofen (or any other pain reliever) 48 hours before the procedure. Caffeine the day of the appointment may cause an increase in blood flow and is highly discouraged — as I am trying to push pigment in, your blood will be pushing it out, affecting your healed results. Botox administered within two weeks before your appointment will result in a reschedule.
Be aware that for the first few days immediately after your initial appointment, they may seem dark to you. Note that healed results will be around 40% lighter. Any waxing/tweezing should be done no later than 48 hours before the procedure. Scabbing during the healing process is normal and can occur.
An ideal candidate is someone with normal-dry skin, not on any prescribed medications, has no medical concerns, and will be compliant with aftercare.
Candidacy has nothing to do with natural brow hair status and more to do with skin type, everyday routine, and medical conditions. For any contraindications questions/concerns, PLEASE feel free to email or call the shop! Doctors notes can be accepted on a client-by-client basis.
PMU cannot be performed on any of the following:
Wait to schedule if:
Everyone’s pain tolerance is different. A topical numbing agent is used before the procedure, and a numbing solution is re-applied throughout the remainder of the procedure. The majority of my clients compare it to a pain level of 3 out of 10.
Following your specific advised aftercare given to you individually by your artist will result in the best healed long-term results. While considered permanent, results typically last 1-3 years depending on each client’s skin and aftercare. Eventually a “color boost” will be needed in order to freshen the colors back up.
Aftercare instructions must be followed for 14 days!
Aftercare is discussed with each individual client thoroughly after their appointment, and each client is given take home instructions. Avoid submerging the brows in water, avoid brow makeup until healed, and avoid direct sun exposure, saunas, sweating and steam for 14 days. Lastly, it is advised to plan your appointment accordingly to the aftercare, so please don’t book your appointment right before a beach vacay!
